In Kashi, it is believed that month of Kartik is very auspicious as it is the favourite month of Lord Vishnu, so there is tradition of offering prayers to Vishnu ji and Tulsi.

People offer prayers, take dip in holy Ganga, donate things of use and money to poor and light lamps "Akash deep" in heights to lit the path of the ancestors as it is believed that in the month of Kartik ancestors from heaven come to their dear ones on earth to see their wellness. People offer lights to Lord Vishnu and pray for peace of their ancestors.

Aagaman Samajik Sanstha, taking the benefit of this occassion decided to light five "Akashdeep" throughout the month of Kartik at Dashaswamedh Ghat in guidance of Gangotri Seva Samiti for the Girl Child who became the victimes of social curse of female foeticide. We prayed for the peace of their Spirit and wished for their rebirth.

The program was started with the Shodocharya Poojan by five Brahmins followed by offering of 151 deeps to Ma Ganga, then Five Akashdeep were hung in air at the ghat admists the Ved-Uchharan.

All the guests and members of Aagaman took and oath to make awareness in the society for stopping the Female Foeticide/ infanticide and empowering the position of females in the society.
